FRESH from the Royal Wedding!

Well all that I can say is WOW, didn’t Kate look unbelievably beautiful? Every detail was just perfection, hair, make-up and that DRESS!! I thought she’d have her hair up in a chic chignon rather than half up, half down but I was almost right! Nevertheless, it was the right style, although I would have loved to see more of her lace bodice across her back and shoulders. The hairstyle was truly magnificent and I think I heard through the grapevine that she had a dramatic hairpiece sewn in to keep that amazing tiara in place and really give a cascading wave down her back.
Her make up, understated but natural was as suspected, rumour has it she did it all herself – she can have a job at the Fresh Academy anytime! As if she needs it! On a serious note, it was to perfection, her creamy skin was shown off with a delicate rosy glow and natural, earthy tones on her stunning almond shaped eyes – the effect was just breathtaking.
As for the dress – any bride would have been over the moon with a creation by the head designer at Alexander McQueen – Sarah Burton did him proud and what a well kept secret! I’m sure he was smiling down today as the now Duchess of Cambridge swept down the dramatic aisle at the Abbey, looking resplendent. I wish I had been a guest! Back to the dress, a creation of sumptuous lace and duchess satin. The bodice was fitted with an overlay of the most gorgeously crafted lace – did you see the tiny covered buttons at the cuffs and down the back? The lace was hand-made by the Royal School of Needlework in secret. Apparently, the flowers in the lace are all emblems of the United Kingdom, the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock, how patriotic! The train measured 2 metres and 70 centimetres. As for the veil, it was ivory silk tulle with hand embroidered flowers.
A simply awe-inspiring day and I know I spent most of the time looking at all the guests scrutinising designer outfits, hair styles and make up. The rest of the team at Fresh were also glued, we love gathering inspiration from these incredible events so we can re-create all the sensational Royal Wedding looks for all our Fresh devotees! I’m wondering how long it will be until someone asks us to re-create Kate’s look…

A Fresh Take on the Royal Wedding…

It’s nearly here – no, not just an extra day off work! The Royal Wedding is TOMORROW!!

As our business is all about bringing out the best in people’s beauty, the Royal Wedding is just too exciting for words! All those beautiful people to ogle all day! What a great way to get inspired. I’m too desperate to see how Kate is going to look on her big day and I know I’m not alone! Apart from the fact that all of us love a beautiful bride – this is one bride who’ll set the trend for years to come! Fresh have to always keep abreast of trends because we know there’ll be loads of budding princesses out there who’ll want to re-create Kate’ssuper stunning look.

Got me thinking anyway…how would Fresh style Kate for her big day? What hairstyles and make up will suit her? With her natural beauty and luscious locks she already makes a picture perfect bride and actually, her creamy English Rose skin and hazel eyes are a great canvas to work on. Let’s be honest, she’s not going to be too dramatic and I’m sure her style will be soft and sophisticated but if I was her, how would I want to be styled?

I think her hair is her crowning glory (pardon the pun!) Rumour has it she’s wearing the Queen George III tiara for her wedding. Stuffed full of the brightest, whitest most sparkly diamonds you don’t want your hair detracting from that incredible piece! So I’m hoping a smart chignon low at the nape of her head with the front sweeping across, perhaps. Elegant and oh so sophisticated, classic, timeless, smart! Alternatively, because her hair is so long and full, you could see her with half of it up at the front, soft, loose curls dancing around her shoulders, a more girly style but soft, not overdone – I guess up or down will depend on her choice of dress and that’s another subject altogether.

As for her make up, I think natural is best when it comes to today’s brides. She doesn’t want to be too made up and needs to look demure yet chic and stylish. She could play up her eyes with soft, smoky tones of grey and silver with a sweep of black liquid eyeliner (she really loves her black eyeliner!) plus lashings of mascara, to complete the look, wear a natural, silky taupe on her lips with a hint of gloss – let the eyes do the talking! Diana’s eyes (have to mention her somewhere) were always a talking point – Kate also has dramatic eyes. As an alternative she could use a very neutral palette of creams, browns and greens to bring out her rich hazel peepers, together with a nude lipstick and rosy glow on her cheeks, she will be the ultimate English Rose.

That’s my take on it – be interested to see how right I get it! Kate’s getting used to pulling poses in front of the photographers and the Paps, I guess she was born to do the job of the future Queen of England. Thousands of princesses out there want to recreate the looks of Kate Middleton and that’s something Fresh can help with, check out our portrait packages for some regal inspiration. Congratulations to Will’s and Kate...enjoy your spectacular day!
